RiskKAN was well-represented at the kick-off meeting in Brussels for the newly funded COST Action CA24144 (ANTICIPATE), a four-year initiative dedicated to advancing long-range predictions of multi-hazards and led by Chris White. The event saw the attendance of four active RiskKAN members: Kai Kornhuber, Marleen de Ruiter, Silvia De Angeli, and Robert Šakić Trogrlić.
The objectives of COST Action ANTICIPATE are highly relevant to the RiskKAN community, aligning closely with several of our existing Working Groups, including:

Warnings and Preparedness for a Riskier World
Compound Events
Vulnerability Dynamics in (Multi-)Hazard-Risk Research
AI for Complex Climate Risk Mitigation

During the kick-off, RiskKAN members were selected to lead critical components of the Action, highlighting the group’s strong representation and commitment. Robert Šakić Trogrlić and Marleen de Ruiter will co-lead Working Group 4: “Exploring multi-hazard early warnings products for anticipatory actions.” Silvia De Angeli will co-lead Working Group 5: “Cross-cutting co-design, stakeholder engagement and dissemination,” alongside Fiachra O’Loughlin. Following the kick-off, the attendees shared their excitement about the future and extended thanks to Christopher White, Pauline Rivoire, and Daniela Domeisen for their leadership in launching the Action. We look forward to the collaborative advancements that will emerge from this important work!
